Peace20 Continues Its Journey in South Africa

Peace20 continues its global journey, bringing its message of peace to South Africa. First launched in Indonesia for the world on 1–2 November 2022 at The Mansion Resort, Ubud, Bali, the international peace initiative continues to inspire thousands of young people. Through its peace programs this year, thousands of youth have once again voiced their vision for a more peaceful world.

Princess Natasha Dematra, one of the founders of PEACE20, shared that during a special audience with the Ambassador of South Africa to Indonesia, H.E. Mpetjane Kgaogelo Lekgoro, discussions centered on global peace, ongoing conflicts around the world, and how PEACE20 can continue making a meaningful impact on communities worldwide.

Political Counsellor of the Embassy of South Africa, Boiki Mutluung, stated:

“This PEACE20 Peace Initiative is organized in line with South Africa’s foreign policy priorities, both domestically and internationally. We believe that PEACE20 aligns with our policies and with the future we hope to see globally. We fully support this initiative, the G20, and PEACE20.”

The mission of PEACE20 is to serve as a platform where young people can experience, promote, and celebrate peace while embracing the richness of diversity. It seeks to create opportunities that sustain life and well-being for humanity and the planet.

In her remarks, Princess Natasha Dematra said:

“I hope that as PEACE20 continues in South Africa, our mission of promoting world peace will continue to grow. Peace is something we must celebrate because it is the essential foundation for people to live together in harmony.”

As part of its programs, PEACE20 organizes the Peace Pledge, through which young people from around the world send a unified message to global leaders that they reject war, conflict, intolerance, and division. Instead, they call for Peace in Action, justice, and sustainable development, believing that peace and harmony are the only path for humanity to survive and coexist.

The vision of PEACE20 is to amplify the voice of peace across the G20 member states and the international community, particularly among young people.

PEACE20 was first launched by the Prince of Peace, Prince KPAA Dr. Damien Dematra, together with Princess Cheryl Halpern. During its inaugural event in Indonesia in 2022, held in support of the G20 Indonesian Presidency, more than 25,555 participants from 53 countries took part both in person and online through peace forums, international art competitions themed around peace, and the collection of signatures for the world record “The World’s Thickest Book of Peace Messages.”

Princess Natasha Dematra added:

“Although this year PEACE20 continues in the midst of our grief following the passing of my father, the Prince of Peace, his spirit of peace remains alive and will continue to soar in the hearts of young people who remember him and carry forward his mission. I hope PEACE20 will continue to grow and make a meaningful contribution toward creating a more peaceful world.”

Previously, in 2023, PEACE20 continued its journey in India through the International PEACE20 Youth Summit, recognized as a Global Youth Movement for World Peace and Sustainable Development. Held on 11–12 August 2023, the summit was fully supported by the United Nations, where participating youth reaffirmed their commitment by signing the Peace Pledge through the Peacegate initiative.

In 2024, PEACE20 expanded to Brazil, where thousands of children in Indonesia and Brazil united in promoting peace.

This year, PEACE20 is proudly supported by the Embassy of South Africa in advancing its peace mission alongside the G20 Summit in South Africa, which will take place on 22–23 November 2025.
